The Management Development Programme (MDP) is a core element of the undergraduate degree programme in the UKAP.
The programme runs for three months. The entire class is driven by real business problems. The approach to learning is active problem-based, with students working in project teams.
The class aims to encourage integration of the knowledge and experience gained in Principal Subjects.
The Level 3 Certificate in Business Studies qualification consists of 4 units for a combined total of 30 credits, 180 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Duration and delivery
The qualification is designed to be delivered over 3 months for full-time study, but it is also flexible in its delivery in order to accommodate part-time and distance learning.The qualification is delivered face-to-face, through lectures, tutorials, seminars, distance, online by approved centres only.
Successful completion of the Level 3 Certificate in Accounting & Business Analysis & Technology qualification enables learners’ direct entry into Year 1 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree or pursue Level 4 Diplomas. As this qualification is approved and regulated by Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), many universities acknowledge the ability of learners after studying Level 3 Certificate in Business Studies and consider for direct entry into a range of their Bachelor’s degree programmes.
The majority of study combinations of this course leads to a fully-accredited degree, allowing you to train for membership of the UKAP Accountants of England.
Accounting graduates find jobs as trainee accountants, auditors and tax trainees. Employers include Santander, Ernst & Young and Price Waterhouse Coopers, Deloitte, HBOS, KPMG and Morgan Stanley.

Assuming no change in Rest of UK fees policy over the period, the total amount payable by undergraduate students will be capped. For students commencing study in 2017/18, this is capped at £2,750
UKAP Level 3 qualifications can be offered to learners from age 16. UKAP does not specify entry requirements for these qualifications. UKAP ensures that learners admitted to the programme have sufficient capability at the right level to undertake the learning and assessment criteria.
UKAP Centre must ensure learners are recruited with integrity onto appropriate qualifications that will meet their needs, enable and facilitate learning and achievement enable progression. The qualification is offered in English.
English requirements: If a learner is not from a majority English-speaking country must provide evidence of English language competency.

Assessment and verification
All units within this qualification are internally assessed by the centre and externally verified by UKAP. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.
To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. Judgement that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by the Assessor.
